That was the first question I asked myself when it happened…
I’m a 40 something year old mother of one and I was recently told I was being made redundant….
Whilst it wasn’t a complete surprise given the state of the company, it was a real body blow. I’d been in this role for over 6 years and in the industry for 20. I would have to start the whole CV/Interview merry go round again? It had been so long, do I even have an updated CV? How do you resurrect a career after redundancy?
To be honest I have been mulling over my career for some time. I wasn’t enjoying it and haven’t for some time but I thought ‘at my age , what else am I gonna do!”.
So now I am truly at a crossroads. I will be unemployed in a matter of weeks and have to decide which route to take. Do I carry on in my current industry, an industry I deeply dislike? Or do I retrain? Try and move into something else. I have so much to think about.
It’s gonna be a hell of a journey… let’s do it together.
